Should I Get My Windows Cleaned Before Listing My House For Sale?
At Sunshine Windows, we get calls every day from Realtors® that are
taking a new listing and want to get the
window cleaned before they place the property on the market. Actually, you could say it is one of our specialties because with our large crew of Window Cleaning Technicians, we are usually able to work with agents and brokers on the timeline that they request. Plus most professionals understand the importance of hiring a company that has all the property licenses, and insurance to make sure that they (and their clients) are protected.
Why would I get my windows cleaned before selling my house?
This is pretty simple to understand. Most people, when listing their house,
are trying to get the highest offer they can from a prospective buyer. However, you are competing with many other houses in your area to spark the interest of buyer's agents and their clients. Window cleaning is one of the most affordable things you can do in the home selling process to make your house look more attractive to prospective buyers. Most homeowners don't realize how dirty their windows are, or what a difference it would make to the overall appearance of their house if they were to get them cleaned. If you take a look at the picture above, this shot was taken from inside a property. On the left side you can see the piece of the window that has not yet been cleaned, and on the right side, you can see where it has. As you may notice, the difference is substantial.
I am listing my parents house, and I just want to sell it quickly.
Listing a parent's property is a hard and emotional experience. Often times, you are having to list it because your parents have moved into a nursing home, or (worse) are no longer with you. This can often lead children to want to rush the process just to get it over with and the thought of having to invest money in getting the property sold seems like extra salt in the wound, but making sure that your property shows well will actually shorten the process for you because the more interested buyers you attract, the quicker the property will sell.
Where in the process do I get the windows cleaned?
Step one in the process of selling your house is to reach out to a Realtor®. Using an experienced agent / broker can make the entire home selling process much easier. Let's face it, there are a lot of licensed agents out there, but finding the right one can be a real struggle. Aramis Realty Group is one of the companies that we refer a lot of our clients to when they are looking for a true professional.
Once you and your agent have sat down to talk about listing your property, they will likely have a number of suggestions for you to accomplish before your listing goes "live". We usually recommend making window cleaning one of the last pieces of the puzzle. If your agent is planning on holding an open house, we typically will suggest that they windows get cleaned 1-2 days before the open house.
When should I book the appointment
Selling a property can be a very hectic experience. The more things you can "front-load" the better. Once you have made the decision to sell, we recommend calling us right away (even if there are a few things to do on the house prior to window cleaning). We can set up appointments weeks (even months) in advance, and it is one less thing that you need to worry about. When you book an appointment with Sunshine Windows. You know that our technicians will show up on the day that you requested and will be on time.
